Dozens of public organizations liquidated in Belarus in a day

Journalists and human rights defenders – among the “liquidated”

The list of those liquidated includes human rights and journalistic organizations, as well as European integration projects.

In Belarus, the Ministry of Justice has liquidated 42 public organizations of the country, including human rights organizations, in a day. This was announced on Friday, July 23rd, by the human rights center Vesna in Telegram.

“It became known that on July 22, the authorities liquidated a number of public organizations,” the statement says, which also contains a list of these organizations.

Among them, in particular, such organizations:

  • Center for Legal Transformation;

  • Office for European Expertise and Communications;

  • Human Constanta;

  • Center for Environmental Solutions;

  • Center for the Development of Effective Communications Living Library;

  • Media Platform Names;

  • Youth Labor Rights;

  • European Youth Parliament;

  • Center for European Dialogue;

  • Press Club Belarus;

  • Information and Cultural Center InitiArt (Novopolotsk);

  • TimeAct social information institution;

  • National Youth Council RADA;

  • Office for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities;

  • Center for Research and Development Forecasts European Dialogue;

  • Office for the Promotion of Initiatives;

  • Art Manor;

  • Center for Regional Development GDF;

  • Center for Urban Projects and Initiatives Cosmos;

  • Social cinema workshop.

The list is still being updated.

As a reminder, last week Belarus hosted searches and detentions of journalists… The searches affected a dozen journalists and their relatives, three were detained. Also, the security forces broke into the editorial office and took away the office equipment.

Before that in Belarus came with searches to human rights defenders… The siloviki went to the offices of the For Freedom movement and the Helsinki Committee, as well as to individual journalists and human rights activists.
