Dozens of patients transferred from Arriondas Hospital due to flooding | Radio Asturias | Present

Twenty-six patients have been discharged and another 29 have been transferred from the Hospital del Oriente de Asturias, in Arriondas, to hospitals in Gijón, Avilés, Mieres and Langreo due to the risk of the hospital complex being flooded by the flooding of the Piloña river and the abundant rains that have been falling in the area for hours.

The evacuation of the hospital, for which seventeen ambulances were mobilized, was decided at 2:35 p.m., an hour after the Government raised the Principality’s Flood Plan to level one due to the flooding and overflowing of channels in different parts of the city. region, mainly in the eastern zone.

Three evacuations in 10 years

The Principality Health Service (Sespa) will install an advanced medical post in the vicinity of the Arriondas hospital in the next few hours to attend to the users of the health area, with the support of medical personnel from the health center itself, and if necessary, also will mobilize advanced life support vehicles (mobile ICU).

The Health Service has recommended to the inhabitants of the eastern region who require care that they preferably go to the emergency services of the health centers or call 112.
