A big fire last night at thrift store Rataplan on the Postjesweg. The fire and the associated smoke development is so fierce that many neighboring houses have been evacuated. That includes dozens of homes in an eight-story flat next to the fire.

At 3.45 am, the fire brigade announces that the fire is not yet under control and that an attempt is being made to prevent ‘transfer’ to the adjacent flat.
The first report of the fire came around 12:30 am.
At 1.10 am the fire was scaled up to Grip 1, which means ‘a very large fire’ where there is a lot of assistance available and a command post has been set up.
The fire brigade advises local residents to keep windows and doors closed because of the smoke.
No one is known to have been injured.
It is not the first time that thrift store Rataplan is hit by a major fire. In 2017, the then building on Generatorweg in Sloterdijk also went up in flames.
Users of the night bus 83 must count on more travel time. The bus has to make a detour because the street has been blocked.
