Dozens of Evacuation Tents for Earthquake Victims Swept Away as Cianjur is Hit by Floods

Flash floods hit Cianjur, West Java. Dozens of evacuation tents for victims affected by the earthquake in Kampung Gununglanjung, Cijedil Village, Cugenang District, were swept away by the floods.

Reported detikjabar, Monday (20/3/2023), the flood occurred around 17.30 WIB. Water suddenly came from upstream with a height of up to 80 cm.

“The water suddenly came from the hills, not because the river overflowed. Immediately there was a flash flood with a water level of about 80 centimeters,” said Cecep.

Another resident, Apian (50), said that the flood caused dozens of temporary residential tents for the earthquake victims to be washed away. There are dozens of tents that were reported swept away by the flood.

“In Kampung Gununglanjung 2 there were five tents that were washed away, while in Kampung Gununglanjung 1 there were about 7 evacuation tents that were washed away,” he said.

He made sure there were no casualties. Meanwhile, earthquake victims were forced to flee to mosques and madrasas.
