On the A2 near Vinkeveen, the road is full of dead birds. There are dozens of starlings. It is not yet clear how the birds ended up there and what the cause is, but Rijkswaterstaat suspects that they fell from the sky, reports RTV Utrecht.
Emergency services helped clear the birds. According to Rijkswaterstaat, the cleanup is almost finished. The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority will check whether they are infected with bird flu.
Three of the five lanes in the direction of Amsterdam are closed for the time being. At 4.30 pm there was already 9 kilometers of traffic jams and the ANWB expected an average delay of more than 70 minutes.
