Putin, who announced in March that he had become insulted against Covid-19, began self-isolation on Tuesday because he had come into contact with a person suffering from Covid-19.
Putin said he had unfortunately had to cancel his trip to the regional summit in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, at the last minute.
“I am very sorry, but this is due to the fact that (..) cases of coronavirus have been detected among my closest people,” the president said in a video call to the summit. He added that not one or two people fell ill, but dozens.
The 68-year-old Russian president revealed in June that he had been vaccinated with Russia’s Covid-19 vaccine “Sputnik V”, but the Kremlin did not publish pictures showing the vaccination process.
