Dozens of Belgians are not allowed to go to Greece because of ‘too …

About fifty Belgians who wanted to leave for Greece on Tuesday were stranded at Charleroi airport. The Belgians had to take a negative corona test no more than 72 hours before departure. But many did that a day early and Greece does not accept that.

Lysiane, among others, was stopped at the airport. She contacted the French-speaking channel RTL to raise the issue. As prescribed, she took a corona test before departure. But because of the holiday on August 15, she and dozens of other passengers had already done so the day before on August 14. “Too early”, says Greece, which requires a test of no more than 72 hours old.

Many passengers thought there would be an exception due to the holiday. “If we had waited a day, we would never have had the results on time,” says Lysiane at RTL who was about to leave with her husband and 7-year-old son.

The family puts things into perspective and says it is not the end of the world, but they do hope for compensation or later flight from their travel agency. However, he does not intend to intervene. They have done their job and informed people about the local rules, it is the passenger’s responsibility to ultimately comply with them.
