Thousands of people were on their feet during demonstrations across Britain on Saturday. The activists protested under the heading Kill The Bill against a bill about giving more powers to the police in non-violent demonstrations. After a march in London, fighting broke out. Ten officers were slightly injured. At least 26 people have been arrested, according to the police.
People took to the streets in dozens of villages and towns in the country. Climate activists from Extinction Rebellion and the Black Lives Matter movement were also represented. Except in London, where protesters clashed with police, most protests were peaceful.
According to police commander Ade Adelekan, the vast majority of the activists in London adhered to the corona rules, but a small group escaped from it. “This left us no choice but to go to an enforcement phase and arrests have been made.” The police were present in the capital with a lot of manpower.
