Dozens occupy hard tower wasteland in Zurich – TOP ONLINE

The Hardturm wasteland in Zurich was occupied by around 80 people with construction trailers and tractors on Tuesday afternoon. Banners with the inscription “Everything is occupied” point to the squatting scene in the cooking area.

The city of Zurich has taken note of the occupation of the Hardturm wasteland, as it writes in a statement. The squatters want to build a wagon place called Rotonda. The squatters wrote on their Instagram channel: “People, dogs and chickens will set up their new homes on the occupied square”.

The city of Zurich is currently examining the situation, said Patrick Pons, media spokesman for the finance department, on Tuesday at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency.

The city actually intended to build a “refugee village” for Ukrainian refugees on the site.

The city council had already submitted the planning application for the planned facility for refugees in November. However, the temporary container village is only created when needed.
