Dozens of people have been killed in an attack by Islamic extremists in northern Burkina Faso.
Near the town of Arbinda, the militants killed at least 47 people, including 30 civilians and 14 military, according to state media. At least 16 people are said to have been killed on the side of the attackers, but there are also reports that there are many more.
The border area of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger has seen more frequent bloody violence by Islamic extremists. Some terrorist groups have links with organizations such as Al-Qaeda and Islamic State.
The violence has killed hundreds of civilians so far this year. According to the United Nations, 1.2 million people are displaced in Burkina Faso alone.
