In the Indian state of Maharashtra, dozens of people have been killed by heavy rains in the past day. According to the first reports, 36 people have been killed and dozens are missing. People were drowned or buried when buildings collapsed.
Several villages and towns are cut off from the outside world because the access roads are flooded. The army helps with the evacuation of residents.
Maharashtra has been plagued by severe flooding and landslides for days. Mumbai, the largest city in India, is also located in the state. Earlier this week, at least 30 people were killed by landslides. Rescuers are still searching for missing people.
