Dozens of detainees have been killed in a fire at a prison in Burundi. The first reports speak of 38 dead.
Dozens of people have also been injured. Some of them are in bad shape, so it is expected that the death toll will continue to rise.
The fire broke out last night in the largest prison in the capital Gitega. The prisoners were caught in their sleep by the fire and smoke.
It is not yet known what caused the fire.
