Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia– The mobility restrictions implemented to contain the spread of Covid-19 are starting to show positive results. The Covid-19 Handling Task Force noted that in the last two weeks there was a downward trend in the number of new cases, the positivity rate and the bed occupancy ratio (BOR).
Spokesman for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said that although some recorded a decrease in cases, there were still areas that experienced an increase, namely the islands of Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. He asked local governments that experienced an increase in cases to immediately prepare health facilities and centralized isolation places in anticipation of a spike in cases.
The public is also asked not to be careless about the risk of transmitting the virus and to remain disciplined in complying with health protocols. Then, he asked the local government whose areas experienced an increase in cases to immediately prepare health facilities.
“With cases still increasing in the last three weeks, it is necessary to anticipate and prepare all health facilities in their respective regions,” said Wiku, Tuesday (3/8/2021).
Nationally, on 12-18 July 2021 the positivity rate will still be at the level of 30.72% with the addition of 350,273 cases. Then it decreased to 27.38% in the period 19-25 July, and further decreased on 26-1 August 2021. In the last week the positivity rate was at the level of 25.18% with 273,891 cases.
“From the data review, we are optimistic that in the future the number of positive cases can decrease. If the regional government continues to improve handling and the community remains disciplined in carrying out health protocols. The achievements of the last two weeks can be a motivation to suppress transmission, especially for areas that are still experiencing an increase in cases,” said Wiku .
Several provinces that experienced an increase in cases were North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung, Bangka Belitung, South Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi.
