ANKARAGÜCÜ – KAYSERISPOR 0–1
On Wednesday, it was confirmed that Torgeir Børven’s days in Rosenborg were over. The striker was sold to the Turkish club Ankaragücü.
Only two days after the transition went well, Børven started his first fight for his new employer. The Øystese guy got the chance at the top when Kayserispor came to visit the Turkish capital Ankara, but had a hard day at work.
Just before the break, Ilhan Parlak sent the ball into the net behind former Bodø / Glimt goalkeeper Ricardo Friedrich, and made sure that the guests took the lead.
There were no more goals in the settlement, and Børven and his teammates went on a sour defeat. Thus, Ankaragücü’s painful series start in the Turkish top division continues. The team stands with one poor point after three games, and is only two places above relegation.
Ankaragücü finished last in the table last season, but due to the corona pandemic no one moved down from the top level.
When Børven was ready for Ankaragücü, the Turkish club presented the westerner as the god from Norse mythology, Tor. Watch video below:
92 days in Rosenborg
Børven started this year’s Elite Series season with a bang and replaced goals for Odd. The 28-year-old stood with six goals in four games when he signed for Rosenborg at the end of June.
But the stay in Trondheim did not turn out as neither the striker, Rosenborg nor the fans had hoped for. Børven only found his way to the net four times in a total of 14 league games for RBK during the three months he was at the club.
It should also be mentioned that he netted twice against Breidablik in the Europa League qualifiers.
The RBK career lasted only 92 days, before Børven was ready for new adventures. The striker has tried his luck abroad on one occasion before, but his stay in Dutch Twente was not a great success.
PS: Rosenborg has already brought in a replacement for Børven. On Friday, the Swedish striker Rasmus Wiedesheim-Paul (21) was confirmed ready for Trøndelag.
