Multiple emergencies affected several neighborhoods in Medellín and the Aburrá Valley in the afternoon of this Saturday, due to the heavy rains.
One of the most serious incidents occurred in the Santo Domingo neighborhood, in the northeast of the city, where a ravine overflowed and its current affected several houses, flooded roads and dragged street stalls and motorcycles. The Fire Department sent an emergency vehicle to the area.

In the Madera sector and the Zamora neighborhood, in the neighboring municipality of Bello, there were also stream overflows, which interrupted the vehicular flow in sections of the Norte highway and the Medellín – Bogotá highway. In this area, the mud affected a commercial establishment and a vehicle, which was trapped.
In Niquía, the La García stream also overflowed in the vicinity of diagonal 55, causing partial damage to two homes, according to Andrés Callejas, director of Risk Management at Bello.
Added to this interruption in mobility was the cessation of metrocable activities, which lasted one hour, due to electrical discharges in the atmosphere.

Among them an emergency in the El Rodeo sector, where lightning caused a plant cover fire.
“In the La Avanzada neighborhood, firefighting units attended to a case of mass movement with the fall of rocks, which broke a wall on a second floor. On the first floor there is a flood of approximately 30 meters and our units work to evacuate the water. Loss of belongings is reported there, ”said his report.
