Downloading games and updates can sometimes take a long time on the PlayStation 4. Of course it also depends on your own internet speed, but that the process was quite slow on the PS4, we really cannot ignore that.
It seems like the PlayStation 5 brings huge improvements in this regard as well. The website USgamer put it to the test for its review of the PlayStation 5 and tested two games of varying file sizes. A PlayStation 5 and a PlayStation 4 Pro were connected to the same network via cable.
Disgaea 5, a game of only 6.58 GB, was downloaded on the PlayStation 4 Pro in 10 minutes and 42 seconds. On the PlayStation 5, this took just 1 minute and 58 seconds. A larger game was also chosen, namely Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise. This game weighs 36.6 GB. On the PlayStation 4 Pro, the game was downloaded in 58 minutes and 34 seconds. On the PlayStation 5, it only took 7 minutes and 1 second.
These figures do not lie, because the differences are enormous. This seems to make an annoyance of the PS4 era a thing of the past. As mentioned, your own internet speed is a factor in this, so it may be that these test results will not be exactly the same for you. That you will notice a clear difference, however, seems beyond dispute.
