That games are more complex and that patches and fixes are constantly being delivered is correct, but I should be able to play with an outdated patch/version off-line, right?
Cheat control is only for online (multi)player, so I don’t really think it’s an argument.
Dlc was purchased separately, used to be possible physically… Was called expansions back then.
I’m not saying I want to go back to that, but that has nothing to do with always-online requirements for single-player games. Because once downloaded it must then simply be on your console and there has already been an exchange that links the license to your account (piracy?).
With regard to save cards, I agree that you used to have to move a lot with data, but time has not stood still in that area. You can store a lot more save data on your console (or sd card) and cloud seems more like an addition, not something to depend on.
Regardless of whether the past is bad or the future is bright, I do not understand the benefits for the consumer in this regard.
