Dow Jones has experienced its worst loss in 33 years

The US stock index, Dow Jones, lost nearly ten percent in the wake of the coronavirus crisis, the worst slump in 33 years. The Dow Jones lost around 2350 points on Thursday and stood at around 21,200 points after the close of trading. It was the worst loss since the October 1987 stock market crash.

The technology index Nasdaq and the leading index S&P 500 suffered losses that were almost as strong. It announced it would pump $ 1.5 trillion into financial markets this week.

However, this only led to a brief recovery in share prices. The corona virus is causing panic among investors worldwide and has sent the stock markets down. In Frankfurt am Main, the German stock index (Dax) closed Thursday with a minus of 12.24 percent. That was the biggest daily loss since 1989. Since the beginning of the year, the Dax has dropped by more than 30 percent.
