– The ground under the tracks is unstable and considered so unstable that we have concluded that it is not safe to drive trains, says press officer at Bane Nor Harry Korslund to TV 2who first mentioned the case.
It was around 4.50pm on Monday afternoon that Bane Nor received the first message about the risk of a slip.
– There has been a slippage of masses under the track. It is of such a large scale that we had to stop traffic until we had brought in geotechnicians. It is not advisable to drive a train, says Korslund to Romerikes Blad on Monday evening.
He says that in this case they wanted to bring in geotechnicians to investigate the ground under the track.
– We never take any chances.
Hope to be finished during the night
Crews are now working on site to get masses in place.
– We have had crews and machines in this afternoon and this evening, and there is good progress in the work they are doing, says Korslund.
They therefore hope to be on target with the work before people go back to work on Tuesday morning.
– As the situation is now, we have a good hope of finishing the work during the night, so that traffic can flow as normal on Tuesday morning, says Korslund just before 10:00 p.m.
– Take a check before you travel!
– We still have to make a reservation that unforeseen things can happen, he adds.
He therefore recommends people who are going to take the train on Tuesday morning to have a check before they travel.
– I recommend that they check with their train company for the latest updated status before they set off. There they will find all the information they need and if there is a need for alternative transport, for example, says Korslund.
The following train lines are affected by the closure:
- Drammen – Oslo S – Lillestrøm – Oslo airport/Oslo Airport – Lillehammer RE10
- Oslo S – Trondheim S, Dovrebanen F6
