Dovrebanen: – Dovrebanen evacuated: – Howls and screams

– We just got off the train. We have been sitting there for a little over two and a half hours.

Linda Katrin Ulstein tells Dagbladet, after she and the rest of the passengers on the Dovre line in the direction of Trondheim have been evacuated, as a result of an overhead line having smoked and broken the window on the train.

It was TV 2 who first mentioned the incident.

– It was howling and screaming. We were lucky to put a few rows further ahead, she says.

Ulstein then describes how she experienced the incident.

– At first it seemed that the train meandered a bit, so I thought it was sunshine on the tracks. The sounds escalated before it finally ended in a big bang. Suddenly there was a lot of glass lying powdered in the aisle. It was very uncomfortable.

She is also critical that it should take so long before they could be released into the open air.

– It is not possible that we will have to wait that long.

Satisfied

On board the train was also John Inge Lund from Narvik. He was sitting a little further back when it slammed.

– At first it sounded like we were derailed, but after a couple of hundred meters we stopped. When I arrived in the carriage, I saw that some people were a little upset, but fortunately no one was physically injured, he claims to Dagbladet.

Lund experiences that the staff on board the train have handled the situation very well.

– We have waited a long time, but we have received both food and water. The only problem is that it has been a bit hot.

– Unusual

SJ Norge is responsible for the operation of the train on which the incident occurred.

Steinar Olsen, head of operations at the company, confirms the incident to Dagbladet and says that only material damage has occurred.

– Fortunately, no one is injured. We still had to stop the train and could not open the doors until the track was secured.

He also understands the criticism of Ulstein, but at the same time says that they had no other choice.

– There are safety considerations for this. Had someone got the power from the rails in them, they could in the worst case have died.

New train from Dombås

Now that all the passengers have been evacuated from the train, they will be taken by bus and taxis to Dombås. A new train is waiting there, which will take travelers to Trondheim.

According to the plan, Lund will continue to Narvik by bus, a bus he is unsure if he will catch.

– I do not know yet, but we will take it as it comes. At least I’m in good spirits.
