Last November, Douwe’s best friend, artist Steven Oprinsen, passed away. “I have not suffered a greater loss,” says the singer-songwriter. It was a strange year anyway, he says in the magazine. Not only did he lose his buddy, he also had to say goodbye to his father in 2020.
“It hurts that someone is gone and that pain gets less as time goes by. But I don’t want to deal with the death of my best friend at all! I want to feel the loss, that’s okay. You always carry someone with you With that, for me that is already processing in itself,” said the singer.
