The Marrakech court of first instance which sentenced Mohamed Al Turk on Wednesday to three months’ imprisonment and a 3,000 dirham fine, following a complaint filed by Dounia Batma, is the same one which on Thursday confirmed the “legal violation” of the marriage of the singer with her Bahraini husband. Custody of the children from this marriage was entrusted to the Moroccan singer.

The divorce was pronounced without the possibility of appeal, as for months the court had been attempting reconciliation attempts to allow them to save what they had accumulated over ten years of marriage, but the two spouses had decided to break the bond that united them. The complaint filed by Dounia Batma accusing Al Turk of “defamation, insults and treason” made any reconciliation between the couple impossible. The complaint follows a video posted on social media and in which the ex-husband and manager was seen in the company of a young woman.
