Greek swimming champion Anna Doundounaki has made history as on Sunday she became a champion in the 25-meter-pool Europeans.
The 28-year-old won the gold medal at the 50 meters butterfly in Otopeni, Romania, finishing joint first with a time of 25.10 seconds, one day after winning bronze in the 100 meters butterfly at the same competition.
Doundounaki had a simultaneous finish with Dutch swimmer Tessa Jill, so both will climb to the top of the podium in the event, while Sweden’s Sarah Juvenik took the bronze medal in 25.16 secs.
Therefore Doundounaki has just earned her second European gold, since this was preceded by her victory in 2020 in Budapest, when she became European champion in the 50-m pool at the 100m. butterfly.
