Marco Borsato is currently under heavy fire for rumors of transgressive behaviour. But what is actually true about the diary rumor? Opinions are divided.
The 54-year-old Marco Borsato is guilty of transgressive behavior against girls aged 13 and 15, according to the ratings hit Gossip Talk. The mother of one of them is said to have discovered this while reading her daughter’s diary. “She then went to Marco with a sound recording device,” said Gossip.
Doubt about diary
The weekly magazine Story, which this week as the first traditional medium about the rumours, has spoken to the mother ‘whose daughter is said to have been groped by Marco’. She speaks extensively, but at the same time the magazine also questions the story.
The Story: “That the woman does not deny the rumors outright will be grist to the mill of those who believe them. On the other hand, how credible are rumors of Marco acting indecently towards underage girls? And also: how many girls of that age are there who still keep an old-fashioned diary?”
Limburger mixes
According to De Limburger, that is not so strange at all. The regional newspaper joins the discussion about Marco with the article “Hopefully for Marco, most rumors are also false, because the gossip about him has never been as bizarre as now.”
With the suggestion that teenage girls would no longer keep a diary, Story goes quite wrong, according to the newspaper. “Because as corny as it may sound to Story, the number of 13-year-old girls who still keep diaries is large. In that between-napkin-and-tablecloth age (not yet a woman, but also no longer a child) there is a great need to write things off.”
Boulevard raises hand
The rumors about Marco were first mentioned on television this week, namely by RTL Boulevard. During the TV broadcast, he reported in a push message that Marco comes with a statement about all the noise. Presenters Bridget Maasland and Luuk Ikink acted in the broadcast as if they did not know what it was about.
Luke declared later in the evening why they staged that play: “Because I think that with this story you really have to be 100 percent sure of your story and all the facts, before you talk about it extensively in a TV program. Perhaps old-fashioned in 2021, but first sort everything out and carefully collect all the information.”
GossipTalk
The whole Marco riot started in the Gossip Talk program by presenters Dennis Schouten and Jan Roos. Dennis a week later: “After the broadcast, I received messages from many famous people who were very happy that it was finally told, but they wanted nothing to do with it themselves.”
Jan: “We are now a week further. Borsato has not spoken and the strange thing is of course: if you are accused of such a thing and it is not true, then you say: ‘Yes, hello for a second! I’ll send a lawyer on your roof and I’m going to shout everywhere that it’s not true!’ Didn’t hear anything at all… I find that very strange. I also understand why: because of course it is simply true.”
