Will the Vosges sweets be at the Metz market? “We sail by sight”
“We do not throw stones at the organizers. On the contrary, we imagine the complexity and we share their dismay. Since March, we have been sailing by sight without giving up, ”says Fabienne Picard, owner of the Confiserie des Hautes-Vosges. The family business from Plainfaing has 21 years of loyalty to the Messin Christmas market and, like all exhibitors in the wait, it hopes that the end of the year will give it something to put the 2020 turnover green.
“Whether in Reims, Nancy, Strasbourg, Obernai, Colmar or Riquewihr, wherever we are supposed to be, it is the same uncertainty. While we have planned the teams and reserved their accommodation, the sword of Damocles begins to weigh heavily … I fear that beyond October 15, the prefectures will tell us that everything is OK and that on November 18, everything will be canceled , as was the case for the Châlons fair ”.
A disaster scenario that she would not want to relive. So, she crosses her fingers remembering that a Christmas market represents great benefits for a territory. And that smaller formats are better than no format at all.
