Two Albert Heijn supermarkets were robbed in West within half an hour this evening. This concerns branches on Nieuwpoortstraat and Jan van Galenstraat. The supermarkets are about 1300 meters apart. No one was injured in either robbery.
The first robbery happened on Nieuwpoortstraat in Bos en Lommer. Around 9:50 p.m., just before closing time, a man came in with a knife. He then threatened an employee and demanded money from him. A police spokesperson says that due to the employee’s ‘brave’ actions, he ultimately left the store without any loot.
Half an hour later, the police were also alerted to a robbery at the Albert Heijn on Jan van Galenstraat. The robber was inside for a short time. He then fled without loot in an unknown direction, a police spokesperson said. It is unclear whether it is the same person.
No one has yet been arrested for the robberies. Forensic Investigation officers are present in both branches for trace investigations.
