Kochi: Biju Molla (44), a native of Murshidabad, accused in the case of murdering Nimisha Thambi, a graduate student in Vazhakulam, has been sentenced to double life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3 lakh. Paravur Additional Sessions Court Judge V. Jyoti pronounced the sentence. The court had earlier found the accused guilty.
The incident took place on July 30, 2018. Nimisha Thambi (22), a law student from Anthinadu, Ernakulam, Ambunadu, was killed by the accused during a robbery attempt. The accused also stabbed Elias, his elder brother, who tried to stop him from attacking Nimisha.
The crime branch investigated the case registered by Tadiittaparam police and submitted the charge sheet. The charges of murder, attempted murder, armed robbery and trespassing were charged against the accused.
