Double joy for Ibächlerin: he met Roger Federer and won the tournament

At the weekend, Noemi Birrer from Ibächen had two things to look forward to at the tennis tournament in Horgen in the canton of Zurich. The young player from Küssnacht Tennis Club won confidently in the first round of the U12 competition at R6/R9 levels. A little later there was a big surprise for Noemi Birrer and her sister Ailin: none other than Roger Federer visited the Horgen Tennis Center.

“He’s my idol too,” reveals the eleven-year-old. That’s why she got nervous for a moment, “but Roger Federer was really nice and we were allowed to take a picture with him.” It seems that the meeting with the Swiss tennis legend gave the woman from Ibächen a special inspiration and motivation. She then won three more matches – all against higher level opponents – and thus secured her first tournament win. “I will never forget this day,” said the young tennis player.
