Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honorary Citizen of Chelyabinsk and the Chelyabinsk Region Germany Vyatkin celebrates his 89th birthday on May 1. Today, by tradition, he receives congratulations on two festive events.
For more than half a century, the life of German Platonovich has been inextricably linked with his native university. It is difficult to overestimate his contribution to the development of his alma mater. The legendary rector of ChPI-ChSTU-SUSU led the university from 1985 to 2005, and from 2005 to 2019 he was its president.
Despite his advanced age, German Platonovich is still in service today. He continues to work as an advisor to the SUSU Rector’s Office, shares his experience, participates in the publication of books, and is a co-director of large-scale film projects.
In February of this year, Vladimir Putin signed an order to reward the Russian Federation with diplomas of honor “For services in the development of domestic science, many years of fruitful activity and in connection with the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences.” German Vyatkin received this award.
