Scored twice against Nottingham in the Premier League
Alexander Isak scored two goals for Newcastle against Nottingham.
He turned the game around – which he decided on a penalty in the third extra minute.
– The team showed good character, says Isak BBC.
Alexander Isak has started after his injury problems and last week he scored against Wolverhampton.
In Friday’s match against Nottingham, there were two more complete hits.
Isak received a cross from Joe Willock a little behind him but managed to get right to the ball and score 1-1 on the volley.
In the break, the Swede was praised by the Sky Sports duo Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville.
– Willock sends the ball in and, wow! The ball comes behind Isak but he gets the finish with that technique, says Carragher in Sky Sports.
– Isak is a constant threat, absolutely brilliant finish. The control, it’s with his shin that he scores but it’s all about the control and balance with which he hits the ball. Newcastle also deserve it. It would have been criminal if they were behind at half-time, adds Neville.
Alexander Isak decided in extra time
It was Alexander Isak who would be the man of the match.
In added time, he headed the ball onto Moussa Niakhate’s hand and got the chance from the penalty spot.
Then Isak was ice cold and placed 1-2 past the star goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
Involved in everything
Isak has now scored six goals in ten Premier League games and he was involved in most things against Nottingham even beyond the goals.
In the first half, he fired a shot that was guided into the crossbar and before the decision, he played up to a goal that was ultimately ruled out for offside after a VAR review.
– We know that it is an arena where it is difficult to come and take three points and we got off to a bad start, but the team showed good character, says Isak to BBC.
Newcastle are aiming to finish top four in the Premier League and are now a point behind Tottenham who have a game more played.
– We believe in it and we know that we have it in our own hands and have a good chance. We have to take one match at a time and try to win, says Isak.
