The (first) pilot with test events has been completed. In recent weeks, 140,000 people with a negative test result went to the zoo, the casino, a premier league match, music venue, monument or museum. According to the organization Testing for Access, the month was a success, but the reactions from parties that have opened their doors are mixed.
“It is very positive that you can welcome guests again, and also great for the staff to hear the sound of a full amusement park again”, says a spokesman for amusement park Hellendoorn. “But we have seen very clearly that the willingness to test – certainly among our target group of families – is so low that it does not appear to be a solution for us.”
The park did not sell all the maps that were available. It was not the only location affected: of the 200,000 tests made available for this trial, 60,000 were not used. Of the 140,000 people who did have themselves tested, 300 people (0.2 percent) turned out to be infected with the corona virus. So they could not go to the outing.
Tests for Access and Lead Healthcare, the company that conducted the tests, are pleased. “The systems are working. There were a number of start-up problems, for example it malfunctions, but we have solved them,” said a spokesperson for Testing for Access. “Testing is working and can help to slowly reopen society.”
