After the missed promotion, Kickers Offenbach has to do the big cleaning. Both Thomas Sobotzik and Sreto Ristic must go. A new manager is already in the starting blocks, a trainer is already being sought.
All-round attack at Kickers Offenbach: After missing promotion to the third division, both manager Thomas Sobotzik and coach Sreto Ristic have to leave the OFC after the end of the season. A corresponding report by Offenbach Post from Monday coincides with the information from hr-sport. After the cup final on Saturday against TSV Steinbach Haiger (12:15 p.m. live on the first broadcast) it’s over for both of them in Offenbach.
According to hr-sport information, Matthias Georg, previously managing director of league competitor Steinbach, is already a successor to Sobotzik. Georg had already announced that he would be leaving TSV at the end of the season. The Steinbach manager could not be reached when I asked HR. The OFC is also reportedly already in contact with possible Ristic successors.
Prominently strengthened in winter
The Kickers had just missed out on promotion this season, although Offenbach had prominently strengthened the squad in the winter. Among others, striker Philipp Hosiner came to the Main from second division Dynamo Dresden. Both Elversberg and SSV Ulm were stronger in the end.
However, it should not go unmentioned that Ristic had the best OFC season in the regional league since 2014/2015 after a point cut. Sobotzik also took over the Kickers in November 2019 in the bottom half of the table and gradually led Offenbach back up. After this season and with this squad, third place was probably not enough.
Sobotzik does not want to comment
“I feel very comfortable here, I still have a contract and signed it with conviction,” explained Ristic on Tuesday when asked by hr-sport. The coach took over the coaching job in Offenbach in January 2021. Sobotzik did not want to comment on the subject when asked by hr-sport.
