The defense of the mayor María Eugenia Campos Galván stated that the State Attorney General’s Office granted Jaime Ramón Herrera Corral double criteria of opportunity in order to use the former Secretary of the Treasury as a kind of “Trojan horse” to testify against the mayoress with license for the secret payroll case.
In a hearing to debate the jurisdiction of the case under criminal case 2821/2020, it was indicated that originally, Herrera Corral was a witness for the Attorney General under the name of reserved identity AZ66769 / 2017, three months before the then Secretary of the Function Public, Stefany Olmos Loya, will present the complaint against Campos Galván.
Under this identification code, Jaime Ramón Herrera would have testified against former officials such as Antonio Tarín, Gerardo Villegas, Ricardo Yáñez, Pedro Duarte, Raúl Chávez, among others.
Subsequently, Jaime Herrera was reassigned as a witness under the code ZN99456 on October 10, 2017 and on November 11 he testified against Campos Galván.
In this sense, it declared that the State Attorney General’s Office incurs violations of the Code of Criminal Procedures by assembling evidence in a manner, which will be denounced by the legal representation.
