In less than two minutes, Moldavo B jumped to a 0-2 lead, but just as quickly, Herselt eased to 1-2. “There was a bit of stress in the team,” captain Allaerts also noted. “Balls that we otherwise play perfectly, suddenly didn’t quite arrive. And at 1-2 our cups went down for a moment.”

It indeed remained exciting until the 70th minute, when Moldavo B scored the 2-4. The spring was broken at Herselt, which gave the Molleners the upper hand and the score eventually became 2-6. “It’s a pity that we gave away that goal with twenty minutes left on the clock, because I thought we had played creditably until then,” said Herselt coach Sven Milis. “But in the end the best team won. We knew we were going to have a hard time. They took the title in a higher series, so we had come up with a tactical plan. Congratulations to my ladies for resisting for so long.”

At Mol they were of course delighted. The team won the first provincial title and now the cup. “Historically, I don’t think anything like this has ever happened in the history of our club. We have not lost a single time this season and we look very positively to the future in the interprovincial.”
