IDEAOnline-Waiting for schedule Covid-19 vaccination?
You should prepare some of these things.
Vaccination programs to protect themselves from Covid-19 infection continue to be spread to various regions in Indonesia to expand vaccination coverage.
Those of you who are currently waiting for the schedule to receive the vaccine need to prepare yourself by reading accurate information about the safety and side effects of vaccines.
Here are some things to know and if you have a special condition, such as suffering from a certain disease, consult your doctor.
Dr. Neha Vyas, MD, a family medicine doctor at Cleveland Clinic said that we don’t have to worry about this Covid-19 vaccine.
Avoid it because it interferes with the effectiveness of vaccines
All you need to do is avoid things that could interfere with the effectiveness of the vaccine.
- Delay the schedule for dermal fillers. It’s a good idea to postpone the schedule for dermal fillers or other beauty treatments. This is to prevent facial swelling, which has occurred in some people during the Phase three trials of the Moderna vaccine.
- Reschedule the mammogram (breast exam). Another recent discovery is that the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines can cause swelling of the lymph nodes in the armpit, especially on the side where the injection was given. This swelling has been mistaken for a breast lump. Therefore, reschedule the mammography screening to four weeks after receiving the second dose of vaccine.
- Do not take anti-inflammatory drugs. It is better not to take anti-inflammatory drugs or similar pain relievers before being vaccinated because there is a concern that it can reduce the immune response to vaccines.
“This also applies to many other vaccines. You can take pain relievers after being vaccinated and hydrated as you like. But don’t take anti-inflammatory drugs before being vaccinated,” explained Vyas.

Conditions that you must inform the officer before being vaccinated.
- Have any allergies.
- Have a fever.
- Have bleeding problems or are taking blood thinners.
- Are on medications that affect the immune system.
- Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
- Are breastfeeding.
- Has received another COVID-19 vaccine.
What is Allowed, Before and After Vaccines
What is allowed before or after being vaccinated, according to Vyas, drugs for blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, and other general health conditions are not something to worry about.
“Studies for vaccines are being conducted with a number of people who have many of these common conditions. The good news is that people with the disease respond well to vaccines. So, there is no need to stop taking drugs, “he said.
Even so, Vyas recommends being very careful with steroids.
If you are taking steroids for a chronic condition, it is okay to continue taking them.
But if it’s a steroid injection, he advises delaying before being vaccinated.
“Cancer therapy, immune suppression or you have rheumatology and you need certain injections every month, don’t procrastinate,”
“Please speak honestly about this with the relevant authorities about when it is safe to get the COVID-19 vaccine.”

Allowed to Receive Other Vaccines
It is indeed good to postpone other vaccines after 14 days of being vaccinated against Covid-19.
For example the herpes zoster vaccination or other immunizations.
However, there are special exceptions to being allowed to receive other vaccines, especially for emergencies.
“For example, you step on a rusty nail and need a tetanus shot. It’s impossible for you to delay the tetanus shot, even if you have received the COVID-19 vaccine two days earlier,” said Vyas.
Rabies is another example, or let’s say there is another measles outbreak in a community and everyone needs to be immunized.
“In any emergency, you need to make sure you get the vaccine that the doctor recommends. It doesn’t matter if you have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and haven’t reached the 14 day limit. So, an emergency like this is an exception, “he explained.
