The course of the match Dortmund Vs Frankfurt
Knowing Bayern Munich had lost to Mainz, Dortmund played aggressively from the early minutes and put pressure on Frankfurt. Donyell Malen inspired the Dortmund attack.
Twice Malen had the chance to score a goal but the ball failed to meet the target. The deadlock was also broken in the 19th minute.
Dortmund’s attack from the left side could not be anticipated by the Frankfurt rearguard. Julian Brandt received Raphael Guerreiro’s bait and immediately gave it to Jude Bellingham.
Bellingham turned and without escort, he easily struck the ball into Kevin Trapp’s goal. Score 1-0 for Dortmund advantage.
In the 24th minute, Dortmund added another goal through Malen. Karim Adeyemi’s header was received by Malen who directed the ball into the corner of the goal without Trapp being able to reach it.
Dortmund continued to look for additional goals so that Frankfurt could not catch up. Only in the 43rd minute, Mats Hummels added Dortmund’s lead to 3-0 with a header following Guerreiro’s cross.
Entering the second half, Dortmund still dominated the game and continued to look for additional goals. Sebastien Haller and Donyel Malen became the center of Dortmund’s attack.
Malen finally scored in the 66th minute after receiving Adeyemi’s pass. The ball was directed to the far post without being able to be driven by Trapp.
It was Dortmund’s 41st goal in 14 games since the winter break, the most of any Bundesliga team. In fact, no German team at all levels of the competition has scored more than 30 goals.
A four-goal lead made Dortmund relax the game and no more goals were created until the end of the fight. Dortmund still won 4-0 and overtook Bayern Munich from the top of the Bundesliga.
