Dortmund beats PSG in Champions League semi-final

Borussia Dortmund has won the home match against Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals of the Champions League. German striker Niclas Füllkrug scored the only goal (1-0).

In the 36th minute, Füllkrug cleverly controlled a pass from behind from Nico Schlotterbeck and quickly took an effective shot with his left foot. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma prevented PSG from going into halftime with a bigger deficit. He reacted thoughtfully twice to a bet from Marcel Sabitzer.

PSG did not make any serious attempts on goal before halftime, but in the opening phase of the second half Kylian Mbappé and Achraf Hakimi hit the post. Ousmane Dembélé also missed two big chances against his old team from Germany.

Dutch left back Ian Maatsen played the entire match for Dortmund. His teammate Donyell Malen, just back from an injury, remained on the bench.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid

On Tuesday, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid played out the other semi-final in Munich. That match ended 2-2. On the Spanish side, Brazilian attacker Vinicius Júnior scored two goals. In the second half, the Germans quickly turned a deficit into a lead, but Real Madrid took advantage of a penalty in the 83rd minute.

The semi-finals will be decided next week in Madrid and Paris. (AP)
