“Le sang de la double” is the first published work of Jean-Claude Castelain Jean-Baptiste Marty
The storm of June 20, 2022, which notably affected Ribérac, is at the heart of the book “Le sang de la Double” written by Jean-Claude Castelain. The author intends to raise awareness around global warming, of which he is the cause of this violent storm.
Is the survival of Humanity at stake? This is the question raised by Jean-Claude Castelain in his book “Le sang de la Double”, published by Éditions de la Veytizou. To convey his message, the author located the action on June 20, 2022 in the Ribéracois, when a violent storm hit the area causing a lot of damage, much of it still unrepaired today. “This is the case with my house,” underlines Jean-Claude Castelain. This work is also intended to be fantastic with the presence of beings from elsewhere who fall in love with the Earth, saving the hero Jean-Cerbère Murat, struck down during the storm and seriously burned. “But understanding that we are heading towards catastrophe, these beings are leaving,” for the 78-year-old author.
This June 20, 2022, Jean-Claude Castelain is staying in Venice. “It was my wife and my daughters who explained to me by telephone what happened. I took the first plane home, he emphasizes. My wife told me she had to take shelter under the solid wood table in the dining room when part of the roof was ripped open. The storm lasted half an hour. » He draws from these testimonies to enhance this book which is also intended to be a regional type novel.
“I’ve been writing for a long time”
“This book is not even a cry for help, but rather a plea for global change. Global warming is fueled by human overpopulation and our modes of travel. The time has come to change our lifestyles,” says the septuagenarian who believes that economy and ecology do not necessarily go well together.
This is the first time that Jean-Claude Castelain has been published. “I’ve been writing for a long time. I have drawers full of manuscripts,” says the man who has successively been a teacher, personnel manager in a large bookstore and poultry breeder. “The only link that unites these professional lives is my pen. I have always written,” he smiles. The author has no shortage of projects with a guide to Venice and more specifically the Castello district, the largest in the lakeside city. “I am looking for an Italian translator. And I would like it to be illustrated with watercolors. I already know someone there. » He also wants to publish a book on politics, “which I hate more and more”, he admits and which could be called “The little alphabet book of the Raie publique”. Quite a program.
