At one of the six Moscow stores that Reuters contacted by phone, an employee said: “We don’t have any information yet, but I think the store will be open for at least another month.” Reuters also found information on Nike’s Russian website that all of the roughly 100 cases in the country were said to be “open.”

Temporarily closed

An employee of the headquarters of the Russian branch of Nike has told Reuters that many stores are indeed still in business. However, the employee said that “Nike Factory Stores” were temporarily closed.

The fact that so much conflicting information comes out about the Russian affiliates is probably due to the fact that part of the business in Russia is run by independent partners. At least that is the statement that Nike itself gives. The company has also announced that it will update the information on its Russian website soon.
