Robert Doornbos is absolutely bummed about the state of affairs surrounding his situation with the new Viaplay platform. The analyst has been pushed aside after negotiations and does not agree with previously made comments by Viaplay CEO Marko Zwaneveld.
According to the new foreman at Viaplay, Doornbos himself would have stopped the negotiations, but Doornbos does not agree, he tells RTL Boulevard. “I was shocked by Marko’s reaction. I just happened to call him. It’s very simple and I can be very open about this, because I have nothing to lose. I have done the analyzes with love for the past seven years. for Ziggo. It’s just my passion. I approached Marko and Viaplay, then two weeks ago I was invited for an interview at the office,” he looks back.

Doornbos explains his side of the story further. “Then he told me that he does not see me as ‘a hundred days’, as I have now done the analyzes for Ziggo for a hundred days, but that I would be working in a team of analysts. I immediately said: great! I am a team player , let me know. We had no contact that week, I was waiting for a proposal. Tom Coronel told me that he had received a proposal. Then I got Marko on the phone and I told him that I had not received a proposal, to which I was told that I am not one of the regular analysts, which of course shocked me,” Doornbos moaned.
Doornbos doesn’t feel appreciation
In the end, Doornbos felt passed over by Viaplay, much to his disappointment. “I thought: what now? He said he could call me one day to join as a guest. Well, then you don’t go for me. That afternoon I communicated in the media that I will not get a contract and now Marko says that I am no longer welcome. Nothing has been negotiated. Give me the same deal as Giedo (van der Garde) and Tom (Coronel) and there is nothing wrong. I like it too much to do,” says Doornbos. The analyst sees few opportunities left to make things work out well. “He just wants more. It’s a shame. When I look at the audience, no one understands that I’m not there anymore.”
