Lori Vallow, also known as the “doomsday mom”, has long been accused of killing two of her children.
After a seven-day long trial, she was found guilty of the murders on Friday, writes NBC News.
In June 2020, remains were found buried under soil, plastic, animal carcasses and planks on a property in Rexburg, Idaho, USA.
Days later, the police confirmed what everyone feared:
The remains belonged to Joshua “JJ” Vallow (7) and Tylee Ryan (17). Both had been missing since September 2019.
Two months after the disappearance, the children’s mother, Lori Vallow (49), fled with her new flame: Doomsday prophet Chad Daybell (53).
The remains were found on Daybell’s property in Rexburg in the state of Idaho, USA.
Shocking details
Recently, the several-week trial against Lori took place. There, new details emerged.
Seven-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow was suffocated with a plastic bag. The boy, who suffered from autism, had duct tape over his mouth. He was also bound around the ankles and wrists.
He had scratch marks on his neck.
Forensic pathologist Garth Warren said during the trial that the seven-year-old may have caused the scratch marks himself, as he may have been desperately trying to remove the plastic bag that suffocated him.
However, Warren could not determine what her sister, 17-year-old Tylee, died of. The autopsy must have been “a terrible challenge”, describes Warren.
– In most autopsies I perform, I get a whole body. Tylee’s case was different. I received the remains in three separate sealed bags, the coroner said, according to the newspaper East Idaho News.
– God-like figure
The whole very complicated case started in the summer of 2019 when Lori’s brother shot and killed her estranged husband, Charles Vallow. The brother said the shooting was self-defense. He later died of a blood clot in his lungs.
The police video is shocking
Charles had already filed for divorce from Lori. He claimed his wife believed she had become a god-like figure, who was responsible for the initiation of the biblical apocalypse.
After the murder, Lori and the children moved to Idaho – a stone’s throw from the house where Chad Daybell lived with his wife Tammy Daybell (49).
Lori and Chad had previously met at a doomsday conference. Daybell recruited Lori into the “Preparing a People” sect.
Then another death occurred. Then Chad’s wife Tammy Daybell (49) died. At first the theory was that she had fallen asleep quietly, but Lori Vallow Daybell was also found guilty of a conspiracy to kill Tammy Daybell.
