Doom Eternal is getting a second single-player expansion: The Ancient Gods, Part 2. Images of it can be seen in a trailer. It is the final chapter in the Doom Slayer saga that started in 2016. In the expansion, the player will take on new demons.
The Ancient Gods, Part 2 follows the first part of The Ancient Gods, in which the player takes on the Dark Lord, the great boss of Hell. The game follows the Doom Slayer saga that started with Doom in 2016. In de trailer, which is age-related, you can see that the game gets a good dose of fantasy influences. For example, the protagonist flies on a dragon and must face divine warriors in the world of World Spear.
The trailer also shows a number of new demons. The Armored Baron gets a new outfit and a powerful new attack. The Stone Imp has a thicker skin and The Cursed Prowler is also introduced.
The player also receives new toys, a Sentinel Hammer that produces a large shock wave that blows large enemies and crushes small demons. Stunned enemies will now drop ammo too. In conversation with PC Gamer game developer Hugo Martin says this second part of The Ancient Gods is easier than the previous part, and has a less steep difficulty curve. This is mainly due to the introduction of the Sentinal Hammer. The DLC will be released on March 18.
