Researchers found that mild headaches could be a neurological symptom in relation to the coronavirus.

Headaches may seem normal to you because people usually experience headaches after a stressful day or if something unpleasant bothers you. But lately, if your head feels throbbing, it could be a sign of a worsening COVID case.

Reporting from the pages of the Times of India, a study, published in the journal Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology on October 5, looked at 509 coronavirus patients at Northwestern Medicine hospitals in Chicago.

From these observations it was found that nearly 38 percent of these patients experienced headaches at some point during their COVID-19 cases. People are more likely to face neurological symptoms during the course of their illness.

“This is the first study of its kind in the United States. There are only 2 other papers published that describe the prevalence of neurological manifestations in hospitalized COVID-19 patients in China and Europe,” said one of the study authors and the MD who oversees the Neuro Clinic. COVID-19 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Koralnik gor.

Studies say nearly 82 percent of patients who suffer from the corona virus experience neurological symptoms. As many as 43 percent experienced symptoms in the early stages while 63 percent faced neurological symptoms during their hospitalization.

Therefore, these numbers suggest that headache is one of the most common neurological symptoms of COVID-19, requiring you to be hospitalized immediately.

“Patients with neurological manifestations experience a longer hospital stay,” reads the study.
