Police reveal teenager blocking trucks in North Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, for the sake of a TikTok video content. They joined the challenge with the hashtag ‘challenge Angel of Death’.
Unfortunately, this death-defying action took place. A 13-year-old teenager was killed by a truck, while his 16-year-old friend was seriously injured.
The public, especially teenagers, are also advised not to create content on the streets. In addition to disrupting the smooth flow of traffic, creating content on the streets like ‘challenge Angel of Death’ This is very dangerous and can be fatal.
“I appeal not to create content that endangers safety and interferes with vehicle mobility,” Istiono told reporters, Wednesday (14/7/2021).
This case is an important lesson for parents. The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) urges parents not to be separated from their children’s supervision, especially now that children are learning online.
“KPAI hopes that this case will become a momentum for parents, especially during the current pandemic to pay attention to the behavior of their children. If the parents are working, supervision can be carried out by substitute caregivers at home,” said KPAI Commissioner, Retno Listyarti, to journalists, Wednesday (14/7/2021).
Death Defying Action
The action of a group of teenagers blocking the truck that caused the death toll in Bekasi was carried out for the sake of content on Facebook TikTok and YouTube. They block the truck to take part in the ‘challenge of the grim reaper’ which is currently popular.
“In TikTok there is a ‘challenge of the angel of death’, so they look as if they want to be hit, he moves aside,” said Bekasi Traffic Head AKBP Argo Wiyono when contacted detik.com, Thursday (15/7/2021).
The police have mapped the actions of this group of teenagers at 5 points, namely in North Cikarang, Tambun, Kedungwaringin, West Cikarang and South Cikarang.
