Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah made the news. He reportedly organized a lavish wedding party for his daughter, his ninth child, Putri Fadzillah.

At the wedding, Princess Fadzillah wore a diamond-shaped tiara pear. At the reception on January 23, the princess was spotted wearing another tiara featuring six emeralds.

The 29th Sultan as well as the first Prime Minister (PM) of Brunei has a fantastic wealth of US$ 30 billion or equivalent to Rp 430 trillion. At least Bolkiah collects 600 cars from Rolls-Royce, 550 Mercedes Benz, 450 Ferrari. While his famous vehicles include 10 McLaren F1 8 Ferrari F40s, six Ferrari 456 GT Venices, four Bugatti EB110s, three Ferrari LaFerraris, and one each a Ferrari Enzo, Ferrari F90 Testarossa, Ferrari FX and Pagani Huayra.

Not only that, the Sultan of Brunei owns various hotels through the holding company Dorchester Collection which is owned by the “Brunei Investment Agency”. It owns the Beverly Hills Hotel and the Bel Air Hotel in Los Angeles, United States (USA), and the Dorchester and 45 Park Lane in London England.

It also owns Coworth Park in Ascot, Le Meurice and Hotel Plaza Athena in Paris, France. Including Hotel Principe in Savoia, Milan, Italy.

Bolkiah also has a Boeing 747 for his own use, as well as an amusement park called Jerudong Park. He built a palace with more than a thousand rooms, the largest private house in the world, and a private zoo that housed 30 Bengal tigers.

Despite his wealth, the Sultan is known for several family conflicts, most notably with his brother, Prince Jefri Bolkiah, who is known as the “Prince of Playboy”. The two were involved in a heated legal battle that was finally resolved in 2006.

The Sultan’s first wife was his first cousin, Pengiran Anak Saleha. His second wife is Mariam Abdul Aziz. They divorced in 2003 and she was stripped of all her royal titles.

In August 2005, Bolkiah remarried to Azrinaz Mazhar Hakim, who is 33 years her junior. They divorced in 2010 and he was also stripped of all titles, honors and benefits. The Sultan has 12 children from three ex-wives and 18 grandchildren.
