Don’t Play with Fire in the Black Sea!

MOSCOW – Ministry of Defence Russia calling for Pentagon and the command of the Navy forces English not to play with fire and not to take dangerous actions to test Moscow’s defenses. The call comes after an incident last Wednesday involving the British warship, HMS Defender, in Black Sea near Crimea.

“We call on the Pentagon and the British naval command, which sent their warships to the Black Sea, not to try to play with fire and be led by the Ukrainian ‘mosquito fleet admiral’, but to be guided by reason,” said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor. Konashenkov in a briefing as quoted from Sputnik, Saturday (26/6/2021).

Commenting on Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby’s statement reiterating statements made by the British military that Moscow’s statement about warning shots fired near HMS Defender was simply “Russian disinformation,” Konashenkov said he did not find the statement surprising.

“The compulsive attempt by London and Pentagon spokesman John Kirby to deny the obvious and call the whole thing ‘disinformation’, even after Russia published warning shots, and despite direct evidence by the destroyer’s crew, is not surprising,” he said.

The Russian military and the FSB border service released several videos of the HMS Defender incident, including a full video showing a Russian coast guard ship warning a British ship that it would open fire if it did not leave Russian waters immediately.
