Don’t overdo it, consume 3 Nastar Fruits Equivalent to a Plate of Rice

KOMPAS.com – In addition to ketupat, the most sought-after Eid special food, found and liked by the people of Indonesia is nastar cake.

However, before you eat nastar cake as much as you want, first know the nutritional content in it.

Nutritionist, Dr. Tirta Prawita Sari, reminds us to be careful in consuming nastar because it is important to remember that eating three nastars is equivalent to eating a plate of rice.

That’s because the main ingredients in making nastar are sugar and non-fibrous white flour.

“There are various kinds of nastar, depending on the ingredients used. However, the three nastars have approximately 120 to 140 calories, which is the same as a plate of rice,” Tirta said as quoted from the Antara news portal, Thursday (30/5/2019).

Tirta explained that the nutritional content of pastries made of flour, sugar, eggs, and butter is carbohydrates with little protein and fat.

Other nutrients such as vitamins and minerals, according to him, are not found too much in pastries.

“The problem with pastries is that they are made of sugar and flour. Most white flours have minimal fiber. So, cookies are indeed small meals, but when it comes to nutrition, (pastries) have a lot of calories,” he explained.

Nastars are so delicious and we think of them as snacks, some of us may be able to unknowingly finish a jar of nastars alone.

If you are one of those who do this, Tirta warns that eating too much nastar can trigger an increase in cholesterol.
