President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) warned all ranks of the Police. Jokowi asked the Police not to pawn their authority by visiting or visiting law violators.
Jokowi At first, the police chiefs and new police chiefs were rude to elders of community organizations (ormas) who often made noise. He also questioned the reasons for law enforcement to do such a thing.
“I sometimes, I have wanted to say for a long time that there is a new police chief, there is a new police chief, instead I come to the elders of mass organizations who often make noise. Is this true? I asked the police chief. Why did you do this? So that the city is conducive. But what is the way it is true?” Jokowi said when conveying directions to the head of the regional unit in 2021 as seen in the video on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube account, Friday (12/3/2021).
Jokowi then asked all ranks of the National Police not to pawn their authority with sowan to violators of the law. He asked the Police to have authority.
“Be careful not to pawn authority with sowan to lawbreakers. I have seen a lot of this. Brothers and sisters must have authority. Police must have authority,” he said.
In his directive, Jokowi also asked all ranks of the Indonesian National Police to respect the freedom of expression of the people in Indonesia. However, he also asked the police to remain firm.
“Criticism is called. Criticism is called. If it disturbs order, yes, yes, but if not, don’t. Because we have declared this a democratic country. Respect freedom of opinion and absorb its aspirations, but don’t lose firmness from the Police. ,” said Jokowi.
Furthermore, Jokowi advised the Police to protect and help the weak. Jokowi asking people to pay attention.
“Those who are usually marginalized in law, be careful with the affairs of small traders. Protect it. I read it really. It becomes a perception, you have to be careful. It’s small like that. not the police chief, the police chief, but be careful it is still the responsibility of the police chief, it is still the responsibility of the police chief, which is small like this,” said Jokowi.
