Director Adam McKay’s climate satire “Don’t Look Up” broke Netflix’s viewing record, Deadline reported.
The streaming platform reports that in the first days after its premiere, the production garnered 111 million hours of user views. The time is almost four times more than the time spent watching the new film “Unforgivable” with Sandra Bullock.
Another Netflix hit, the second season of The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill, has been watched for over 168 million hours. However, given the length of the episodes, McKay’s film won a convincing victory in popularity.
Climate satire tells the story of two scientists who discover a planet that threatens to completely destroy life on Earth in six months. All their attempts to warn humanity of the danger face the indifference and self-interest of the elite.
The star-studded cast of “Don’t Look Up,” which premiered on Netflix on December 24, includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett and others.
