Don’t like Facebook Memories? Here’s how to stop them

Facebook memories are usually good for a laugh, a cringe (the mid-2000s, right?), or a fond memory. But they can also bring back painful or otherwise less pleasant memories. Instead of being caught off guard by unfortunate memories, you can customize your Facebook settings to hide them.

Here’s how to hide memories in the Facebook mobile app.

1. Open the Facebook app on your phone.

2. Press the Menu button in the lower right corner of the screen.

3. Faucet Souvenirs.

4. Press the Gear icon in the upper right corner to access Memories settings.

5. You can choose between All memories, highlights or None. All memories means Facebook will show you all your memories from that day, Points forts will only show you special videos and collections, and None means you will not receive notifications for memories.

If you want something more specific, you can choose to hide memories involving specific users. Follow the steps above, but instead press People in the Memories settings page. You can enter the name of a user that you want to hide from your memories. They will not be notified and your selections are saved automatically.

You can also touch Appointment in the Memories settings page to hide memories from a specific date range. You can enter almost any time period – a day, a week, a month, or an entire year – going back in time to 1900. When you’re done, tap Does then press To save.
